Womans bunad from Bardu/Målselv

Målselv was uninhabitated until 1787. Then the settlers  from Gudbrandsdalen, Østerdalen, Oppdal and Helgeland arrived.

When the question about a bunad was raised, it was natural to build it  on traditions from those areas. The bunad was composed by Guro Myre in cooperation with Heimen in Oslo. The first bunad was presented in 1847.

The bunad is either blue, black or green.

In 1978 it was decided that also Bardu should use the same bunad, as the first settlers there came from the same areas as to Målselv.

On this picture you can see Hanne in a black Målselv/Bardu Bunad.
