More about the Numedalsbunad

The Numedalsbunad with embroideries is built on old costumes traditions. The embroidery is in forms as found from the 1700s. It was the "Bondekvinnelag" in Nore and Uvdal that collected this material, together with "Den Norske Husflidsforening" in Oslo. The first bunad was shown in 1938.

There is also another costume from Øvre Numedal called the Rollags costume, without embroideries. It is still under work to be registrated and certified as a bunad.

Thank you to Brugaard as for the pictures!
